Hi there, and welcome to my website. For many of us, the last few years have been really challenging. Does it seem like others are coping better, living more successful lives, or enjoying more fulfilling relationships? Are you struggling to come to terms with recent events or past experiences? Maybe, on the surface, things seem to be going well, yet you are troubled by anxiety, depression, anger or a sense of inadequacy or are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or lost. Perhaps you are burdened by a more general sense of unease; aware that something is not right, but unsure what, exactly, is bothering you.
When we feel like this, it can be difficult to know where to turn. We might feel unable to talk to friends or family about what we are experiencing, which can result in us becoming withdrawn and isolated. It’s important for you to know that there is hope. The fact that you have found your way to this website shows that you are able to take a proactive and practical approach to addressing your difficulties, increasing the likelihood that- with appropriate support- you will be able to alleviate your distress and work towards creating a more fulfilling life.
I'm Paloma McMullan, a warm and perceptive UKCP-registered Integrative Psychotherapist with a broad range of clinical experience. My expertise lies in engaging with individuals in all of their richness and complexity, rather than focusing exclusively on any challenges that they may be facing. I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, seeking support for a broad range of issues. I am passionate about helping my clients to gain a greater understanding of the factors contributing to their present difficulties and facilitating their progress towards meaningful growth and change. I am often moved by the courage, creativity, and resilience of the individuals with whom I work, and I regard it as a privilege that they have chosen to share their inner worlds with me.
I am a full clinical member of (i.e. registered with and accredited by) the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and a Graduate Member of the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI). Consequently, I work within UKCP, BACP and SPTI ethical guidelines/codes, which can be accessed via https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/, https://www.bacp.co.uk/, and https://www.spti.net/ethics/ respectively.
I possess enhanced DBS clearance and full professional indemnity insurance. I am registered as a Data Controller with the ICO and am GDPR-compliant. I regularly attend clinical supervision with a UKCP-Accredited Supervisor to ensure that my client work meets professional standards and I frequently engage in Continuing Professional Development activities to enhance and develop my practice.
Making the decision to engage in psychotherapy or counselling is a big step to take- but it can be a positive one. Please check out the other pages on this website to find out more about how I could help you.
